Junk Journaling & Scrapbooking are sisters with different dads…
Welcome to the Journalverse:
Start Here if You’re New
Hey creative soul,
If you’re just landing in the Journalverse—first of all, you’re right on time. You’ve stepped into a glittery world where paper holds power, scissors are sacred, and every journal page tells a story that matters—yours. (And yes boo, I totally made the word “Journalverse” up—kinda like the Marvel Metaverse, but with more washi tape, affirmations, and hot glue guns. Cute, right?)
What Is the Journalverse? It’s more than a vibe. It’s a movement.
A world where:
• Creativity is healing
• Mistakes are part of the art
• Old envelopes and magazine scraps become magic
• You don’t have to be “an artist” to be creative
• Your story belongs on paper
What to Know Before You Start
1. Junk Journaling is Personal and Fun There’s no wrong way to journal here. It’s all about self-expression, storytelling, and having fun with scraps, textures, and pieces of your real life.
2. You Don’t Have to Be “Creative” Everyone has creativity. You just need space to explore it without pressure. Let go of perfect and let the process guide you.
3. Start Small and Simple: Old postcards, receipts, ticket stubs, wrapping paper scraps—yes, girl, even junk mail can glow up in your journal.
4. It’s About Telling Your Story Whether it’s a mood, a memory, or a mantra, you’re creating something that reflects you. That’s the magic.
What to Do When Starting • Gather Materials Collect receipts, photos, quotes, magazine clippings—whatever calls to you.
• Pick a Base Use an old book, notebook, or loose pages you can bind later.
• Play Without Rules Glue scraps. Layer textures. Doodle. Stamp. Add affirmations. No rules, just vibes.
• Start with a Prompt Try: “What’s one thing that made me smile today?” “What’s something I’m grateful for?”
• Incorporate What Feels Like “You” Floral paper? Vintage lace? Coffee-stained edges? Yes to all. Your journal should feel like home on the page. ⸻ So, Why Start Now? Because healing doesn’t wait. Because your creativity deserves to breathe. Because your future self will thank you for writing it all down.
